Entropyst

Over 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions come from fossil fuels used in electricity generation. As coal is retired, gas-fired power has become the leading source of emissions. However, the shift to hydrogen is held back by slow infrastructure development and complex supply chains.

Founded in 2025, Entropyst offers a faster, more practical solution: on-site hydrogen production with the HyWand reactor. This compact, bolt-on system connects to existing natural gas infrastructure and produces clean hydrogen directly at the point of use. It eliminates the need for transported hydrogen, reducing logistical complexity and avoiding supply chain delays.
HyWand uses electricity to convert natural gas into hydrogen and solid carbon nanomaterials, without releasing CO₂. These high-value carbon products, used in batteries, electronics, and advanced manufacturing, generate an additional revenue stream worth £50 to £1,000 per kilogramme.

With a projected levelised cost of hydrogen (LCOH) of £1.5 to £2.5 per kg ‒ even without carbon revenue ‒ our solution is competitive with grey hydrogen and significantly more cost-effective than electrolysis.

Entropyst helps industrial users get full value from their existing natural gas assets by turning them into sources of clean energy and marketable carbon. This accelerates decarbonisation, reduces reliance on external hydrogen supply, and supports a smooth transition to a low-carbon economy.
