SUMMARY:Electrolyser Masterclass with TÜV SÜD
DESCRIPTION:This Electrolyser masterclass is a Hydrogen Scotland webinar with Dr Waqas Tanveer of TUV-SUD\, who will share case studies from the ongoing and future electrolyser projects happening in the Northern European Region. \n\n\n\nDr Tanveer will cover the electrolyser stack\, system\, and plant-level safe operation\, as well as examples of supply chain assessments by TÜV SÜD to ensure investor confidence. The case studies will highlight the importance of considerations about hydrogen certification for global market access. \n\n\n\nPlease register here: https://bit.ly/3OS1n2v

SUMMARY:Sustainable Water for Electrolysis
DESCRIPTION:Producing hydrogen through electrolysis requires significant amounts of water – a challenge in a world facing growing water scarcity. \n\n\n\nThe key to solving this lies in treated final effluent (TFE) – the treated wastewater discharged from treatment plants every day. TFE offers a sustainable and reliable alternative to natural water sources or drinking water\, which is essential for societal needs. \n\n\n\nAs a part of Hydrogen Week UK 2025\, our speakers will address the use of treated final effluent for green hydrogen production\, co-locating hydrogen production facilities with wastewater treatment plants and discuss lessons learnt from the Port of Leith Green H2 production trials. \n\n\n\nThis highly innovative trial involving Hydrogen Scotland members Waterwhelm\, Logan Energy and PlusZero will see the large tugs operating out of the Port of Leith in Edinburgh powered by green hydrogen when tied up. This green hydrogen will be produced from wastewater from the nearby Seafield water treatment works\, providing a fully green and sustainable solution. \n\n\n\nThe consortium of four Scottish renewable and maritime companies were been awarded a UK Government Department for Transport in early 2024 to develop an innovative UK-first approach that will use clean\, green hydrogen energy to reduce carbon emissions from vessels when berthed in port. \n\n\n\nThe year-long trial has delivered a state-of-the-art demonstrator system for green hydrogen shore power which marine vessels can use when they are berthed\, removing the need for the diesel-powered systems which are currently in use on some quaysides. \n\n\n\nThe project is part of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 4 (CMDC4)\, funded by the UK Department for Transport (DfT) and delivered by Innovate UK. CMDC4 is part of the Department’s UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) programme\, a £206m initiative focused on developing the technology necessary to decarbonise the UK domestic maritime sector. \n\n\n\nAgenda: \n\n\n\n13:00- Welcome & opening comments: Nigel Holmes\, Hydrogen Scotland \n\n\n\n13:05- Sustainable Water & Site Availability: Colin Lindsay\, Scottish Water Horizons \n\n\n\n13:15- Water Purification for Electrolysis: Dr Alireza Abbassi Monjezi\, Waterwhelm \n\n\n\n13:30- Port of Leith Green H2 production trials: David Amos\, PlusZero \n\n\n\n13:45- Q&A \n\n\n\n14:00- Closing comments \n\n\n\nRegister here: https://bit.ly/4hR6axO
